Here's a few pictures from Shark Bandit's show at the STM battle of the bands. I will have more of these up very soon, but just wanted to show a quick sample. I am lining up a lot more photo gigs lately. I think it has to do with the weather getting nicer and people wanting to get pictures done as soon as possible. Hopefully I can start to make some money and buy some better equipment soon, and new drums!
Recording has begun. So has all my pictures for photo class, which just so happen to be photos i'll be taking throughout the recording process. Tomorrow and Thursday I will be tracking anywhere from 3 to 7 songs on drums. Hopefully I'll be able to get 7 done. That would be sick, but I will have many more updates over the next few days. I also have live pictures to take of the band Shark Bandit on friday. Check them out. They're all real nice guys.
Today i had band practice all day with kyle, derek, pat, and me (other pat). It was pretty fun. we recorded a demo and worked on some other stuff. Theres a picture of pat recording vocals, and also a picture or kyle as a ghost haunting rachel. Pats song had to do with ghosts so we were trying to be his muse. Once we have tunes online i'll either link you to them or put up a download of one of the songs or something. who knows.
These are my dogs! I decided to take some pictures of my dogs mainly because my top dog, Grady, is 17 years old (in human years) and if something happens to him I want some photos of him. I would have tried to get a bitter pictures, but he usually won't sit down, and he's now blind and deaf. So getting his attention is usually impossible.
This picture is from like july or so I think, but I put it up because today was over 60 degrees. It just reminded me that nice warm weather is coming up, and I get to skateboard a bunch again. I'm tired of spending so much time inside during the cold weather and can't wait to get out and enjoy the outdoors again. Hopefully this year I'll be able to post a lot more photos of skateboarding, and hopefully my friends who skate will go big so I can get some sweet pictures.
Last night was the band Commodity's first show. It was pretty intense. These are a few of the pictures i took during their set. It was also the first time I was able to photograph at the mckinley foundation since it was reopened. I love that place. I'm so glad it's back, but after Commodity played I made it over to the shed to see All the day holiday, So Long Forgotten, and Todd Reese. The shed has one more show before they close. It seriously sucks, but there's nothing that can be done. I just hope our scene doesn't suffer. All the music last night was sweet though. Be sure to be on the look out for more shows with Commodity. Especially the one coming up at Error house with Black Teeth on March 7th.
I took some portraits of myself today working with some florescent lights. It's pretty tough to try to learn things with lights by yourself. I had to photograph myself, then review it, and then try to fix what I didn't like and do it over. I do enjoy this picture though. I don't often take pictures of myself I like, but I try.
This is the ad that ran in AP (alternative press) this month. It was my first time being in AP and while I wish my photos could be in it too, i'm super stoked to have my name in the magazine. It's a huge point for me right now. It really motivates me to go as far as I can with my photos. I'm hoping it will help me out a lot. Other than that there isn't much new since yesterday, and if you live in or near Kenosha Wisconsin go visit this photo exhibit. theres some sweet bands playing!
So my photo class is starting to actually push me. Although I think I could turn in all my photos and Get an A at this point, I want to strive to not just do work that people think is decent, but work I'm happy with too. I think this will also help my skills a lot for the future.
So i went out to take photos for my digital photography class. It's not really super exciting yet. We were only suppose to photograph nature, and that's not something i'm big into. I like to do it if i see something pretty, but dirty snow in champaign doesn't do it for me. I also took a few photos of myself trying out new things with my flash. I like it decently. It's looking like i'm going to have to put off buying new studio lights because of the expenses of my accident, but i will hopefully still be able to get it in the next few months. that's about all right now.
