January 31, 2009

So, Normally i put up photos of things involved with actual photography, but this time, I wasn't able to take any real pictures. I was going to go take photos for my photography class, but on my way to the DMV (ironic I know) I hit a big van and totalled my car. Everyone survived with very minimal injuries, such as pull muscles and a little bit of back pain. I'm very thankful that Rachel, the other driver, her passenger, and I all were alright. Even though that happened, and my laptop crashed in the same day I'm just glad that everything can be fixed. I only lost material objects and got a tiny little ticket. All in all it could have been infinitly worse what it was, and I just thank god for everything and everyone.

January 29, 2009

So, I haven't had the chance to get out and shoot much lately, but I need to. I'm taking a digital photography class at Parland (which is super boring so far) but anyways we have to go take some good nature photos. This is one of those photos. I still need to take a lot more though. I'm hoping this class with be able to challenge me and expand my horizons when it comes to photography. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get out and shoot a bunch more, and then be able to post some more of these photos. That's really all that's going on now.

I don't have any new pictures for today, but as promised I decided to put up the pictures from when Solidarity play "dammit" by Blink 182. It was a freakin' party, you should have been there. I tried to get close enough so that I could get the microphone too, and then take pictures of me singing (haha). but I didn't get into the action enough.

Today I was suppose to go to Springfield to photograph Rhynoceraptor with their new lineup, but sometimes school and weather doesn't allow for that (bummer). I really wanted to see Burning the Masses. Hopefully I'll get another chance.

In other news the band kingdom put up new songs recently. go to their myspace at www.myspace.com/xkingdomx their vocalist is a girl, but it totaly doesn't sound like it. She scares me for sure.

January 27, 2009

I took photos last night at the Renae, Solidarity, No Wings To Speak Of, Montez, and Eagle Scout show at the error house last night. It was a super fun time. Renae and Solidarity were both awesome guys and awesome guys to photograph, and No Wings To Speak Of was intense, but I didn't take pictures because it wouldn't have been safe for my camera. I might post pictures from Solidarity's set later when they played a Blink 182 and everyone sang along, but i didn't want to flood the post with too many photos. If you haven't listened to any of those bands before i would highly suggest you check them all out.

In other news I'm saving up some money right now to get some alien bee's (sweet studio type flashes) so that i can make my promo shoots, and other portraits, way more legit. I'm way excited to get them, but it might still take me a little while to get the money. That's it!

January 25, 2009 part 2

So I was browsing the web just a bit ago and i stumbled across the Phire Design myspace page, and he was the one who did Icon For Hire's other poster and Myspace layout, so I looked at his portfolio and came across these two posters as well, which are both made up entirely of promo and live photos that i did for them. His website is Phiredesign.net if you're interested.

So this is my first post. I decided to make a photo blog to pretty much keep track of what i do, and if any of you are interested you can look at it too. Anyways, friday night i took promo photos for my friends' band Crusades. They're just coming out, but going to be sick, and pretty much the only real hardcore punk band coming out of Champaign/Monticello. So, we started doing the promo shoot at like 10pm which probably wasn't the best idea because of how cold it get in the January nights. Long story short. It was cold, but it was also a fun time. Be sure to check out Crusades in the near future. They don't have a myspace just yet, but they have a show booked with highfive and some other at the blacksheep cafe sometime coming up.
